    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort
    Sugar Bowl Ski Resort

    Located on the western slope of Donner Summit, off of Interstate 80, the Sugar Bowl Ski Resort offers world-class skiing for the whole family. Skiers can appreciate the 1,500 acres (607 ha) of skiing areas and snowboarders can tackle the half pipe, measuring 450 ft (122 m) long by 20 ft (6 m) high. Amenities at the resort include restaurants, bars, lodging options, rental shops, retail stores and a learning center.

    Heavenly Ski Resort
    Located on the south shore of Lake Tahoe, this ski resort is one of Tahoe's most well-known ski mountains and the area's largest. With 4,800 acres of skiable terrain and a summit elevation over 10,000 feet, Heavenly offers an extensive network of 80 runs, 30 lifts, terrain parks and off-slope activities for skiers and riders. In addition, its location on the California/Nevada state line mean visitors can thrill-seek on the slopes during the day and at the gambling dens after sundown.

    Kirkwood Mountain Resort
    Located 35 miles south of Lake Tahoe, Kirkwood has the highest base elevation of any California ski resort and as such receives an average snowfall of 500 inches. Skiers and riders can choose from over 65 trails, terrain parks and a super pipe, as well as lodging right on the hill. Daycare is available for ages 2 - 6.

    Homewood Mountain Resort
    Homewood Mountain Resort, located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, features over 1,260 acres of skiing with eight lifts and 56 runs.     Alpine Meadows Ski Resort
    Alpine Meadows, considered a locals' favorite, provides over 2,000 acres of skiing, a large family-friendly day lodge and a laid-back attitude. With an average snowfall of 400 inches, over 100 runs and 13 lifts, skiers and riders of all levels will find suitable and exciting terrain. The resort features a significant proportion of advanced and expert terrain in addition to terrain parks, lessons, equipment rentals, base and mid-mountain lodges with restaurants and bars. Alpine Meadows also hosts the Adaptive Ski School, a Disabled Sports Program Center. Call ahead for up to date information.

    Squaw Valley USA
    Host of the 1960 Winter Olympics, Squaw Valley USA is perhaps the most well known of Tahoe's ski resorts and the largest in the North Lake Tahoe area. The resort features 4000 acres of skiing, 30 lifts and 450 inches of annual snow. The mountain offers 25% beginner, 45% intermediate and 30% advanced terrain. Also available is Children's World for ages 2 - 12, which offers several programs tailored to the age and ability of each child, supervised ski lessons, snow play and child care.

    Donner Ski Ranch
    Donner Ski Ranch provides ski terrains for all levels of skiers. With a base elevation of 7031 feet, and a vertical rise 750 feet. The annual snowfall is about 33 feet. There is one triple chairlift and five double chairlifts. Ski lodge includes a cafeteria, cocktail lounge, ski shop, rental shop, retail shop, and personal lockers. Free guided tours of the hill are available.

    Diamond Peak, located above Incline Village on Lake Tahoe's north shore, offers quiet mountain slopes with close-up, stunning views of the lake.     Northstar at Tahoe

    Boreal Mountain Resort
    Boreal Mountain Resort is conveniently located right off of Interstate 80, just eight miles west of Truckee and 80 miles east of Sacramento, making it one of the closest Tahoe ski ares to the Bay area and Reno.
